Karen Miller
My paintings are my interpretation of the world around me. I admire artists who can painstakingly recreate a picture perfect interpretation of what they see. That is not me, I like to colour outside the lines and slightly blur the line between real and imagined. I love bright vibrant colours.
Pastels were my first love and I created paintings full of bright yellow, orange, red and greens. Acrylics came next and I try to mimic the same effect that pastels have, creating soft lines and subtle blending of colours.
I continue to learn and grow as an artist under the tutelage of Loretta Secord, here in Calgary, and studied plein air with John Skelcher in Florence, Italy.
