Tess Jones
I began painting about two years ago when I took an abstract painting workshop for fun. After that workshop, I was hooked. I wanted to explore painting further so, during a leave of absence from my work, I began taking weekly painting classes. Soon, one class a week turned into two classes a week as I enjoyed painting so much. In addition, I continued to paint abstracts in my spare time using mostly acrylics and mixed media.
During painting classes I focused on oil painting using a palette knife. I was drawn to the sumptuous consistency of oil paint and the luscious texture I was able to create using the palette knife. While my subject matter is varied, I tend to gravitate towards images of the West Coast, a favourite vacation spot.
After a year back at work, during which I didn’t paint much, I am now retired and thrilled to be back to weekly painting classes.
I love the process of painting and am grateful for this new found passion.
